What is the HUBZone Certification Program?
The HUBZone program helps to aid small businesses in economically distressed areas. These designated areas are known as ‘Historically Underutilized Business Zones.’ The HUBZone Program encourages job growth, capital investment, and economic development in these areas, including Indian Reservations. For a business to benefit from this program, it must be HUBZone certified and invest in and hire at least 35 percent of its workforce from marginalized communities. In 2018, the number of contracts awarded to HUBZone companies increased, resulting in more than $9 billion streaming into undercapitalized communities across the country.
